A Father stands behind the chair
Strong and silent,hes just there
Two paces behind on family walks
Listening to mother and Daughter talk
Out all day making a living
Not asking for much,always giving
Husband,lover,father,friend
Someone on whom we all depend
You might have been famouse and maybe rich
Could have sailed the seven seas
Instead you chose a family
A sweet little girl upon your knee
And when I,m old I will recall
Your eyes so warm and deep
And when the wind blows I will hear
You whistling down the street
Too many things to mention now
For I am going to sleep
And dream my dreams in which you walk
A whistling down the street
